In this fourth section of the course there are only two lectures giving you practice in working with an outline and writing a first draft.

The first lecture on using an outline explains why an outline is so important. We then distinguish between two different kinds of outlines: a phrase outline and a sentence outline. You will get a chance to see examples of such outlines.

The second lecture deals with writing a first draft. You will learn why writing a draft is important.

You will also discover 12 draft writing strategies to help you save time when writing a draft.

You will then take a quiz to review what you have learned.

In the writing portfolio you write an outline and a draft of your essay.

Finally, you do the self-assessment to check your progress.
